| THE SUZUKI METHOD:
Shinichi Suzuki was a violinist, educator, philosopher, and
humanitarian.
He has had a profound influence on music education in his own
country
and throughout the world. Suzuki based his approach on the
belief that,
"Musical ability
is not an inborn talent but an ability which can be developed.
Any child who is properly trained can develop musical ability,
just as all children develop the ability to speak their mother
tongue.
The potential of every child is unlimited."
Suzuki's beliefs and the
method he developed for young children have now reached
thousands of teachers, children and families in many nations.
The mastery of any musical
instrument requires a strong commitment,
and the violin is no exception. The Suzuki Method has the
distinct
advantage of starting children early when they are most
receptive to
learning a language, their motor skills are developing, and they
have the
time and necessary parental support. Indeed the Suzuki
Method is a family
commitment. It's something you can look forward to sharing
with your child
in the growing process.
Your child will learn much
more than just music. Your child will develop
discipline, co-ordination, right/left brain relationships,
protocol, memorization,
communication, increased awareness, sensitivity, and enjoyment
of music
and culture.
As a parent, you will also
learn to play along, and be a supportive teacher at home.
When love and appreciation of yourself, your child, and music is
at the center,
music speaks to the heart of the child and indeed, the whole
family!
"The
purpose of music is to develop a fine heart."
-Shinichi Suzuki
